Stopping un-registered users from browsing the member list?

Hi, I currently help run a private forum, and if a non-registered user goes to 'Search' -> selects the 'Users' button and hits search, it shows a list of everyone - anyway to stop this please?

Comments

  • If it's private surely they dont have access to the search anyway?
  • Must not really be private.

Anyway, Private accounts blocks viewing of profiles... I would think it would be easy to block user searches by the same means.
  • Many thanks for the replies - is there anyway to block the 'Search' button completely for non-members? Mini, a few people seem to know the address :(
  • By private i meant you'd turned off the ability for non members to see the forum at all.
  • Ah no, I haven't done that - just hidden the forum categories and threads

You can hide the Search page from guests using Category Roles. I'm not sure if the extension would re-direct guests who manually enter the url.

[edit] Hmm, just tested it, and I guess Guests can still access the Search page if they manually enter the url. [/edit]
