Can the bar information bar for Vanilla be removed?

edited December 2007 in Vanilla 1.0 Help
Hello everyone, I wanted to know how can I remove the "Vanilla 1.1.4 is a product of Lussumo. More Information: Documentation, Community Support." blurb from my vanilla installation, is this allowed? The reason I want to remove this is revealing the version number and software to end users is a security risk. Thanks for reading, Neil

http://lussumo.com/community/discussion/6855/ In summary: plagiarism is obviously wrong, nothing technical preventing removal, but its generally frowned upon because it hurts the project. As far as security, hiding information is not a substitute for keeping the software up to date; it takes me about fifteen minutes to figure out what software is behind a open-source backend and only minutes longer to figure out a commercial package such as Community Server or VBulletin--even if I had never encountered whatever a site is using before. You will probably shake off the script kiddies, but a determined hacker will still be able to figure it out and get through a known vulnerability if the software is not up to date. There is a check for updates feature in Vanilla that keeps it easy to stay secure, and it's designed to allow updates while keeping your modifications from being written over, (i.e. use themes to customize xhtml, and extensions to customize functionality) so don't be afraid to update.
