Is there a way to backup Vanilla and run on my computer?

edited December 2007 in Vanilla 1.0 Help
I'd like to setup a beta environment for testing purposes and utilizing all of my current settings and issues. My site has almost 2000 registered users and I'd like to avoid any outages I've seen before with adding extensions.

Thanks!

  • You should try this tutorial. Install XAMPP with a fresh Vanilla, then all you have to do is exporting your database from your live site (the process depends on your host, you probably have an option in your website manager) then import it on your local server. PHPMyAdmin allows to do this quite easily. Once XAMPP is running, go to http://localhost/phpmyadmin/ in your browser, select your local database, click on "Import", grab your database copy and it should do the trick.
