Is there a way to not allow users to post new discussions in certain categories.

I have integrated vanilla and wordpress, and i want my wordpress posts to be the only discussions in a certain category. Is there a way to keep users from posting new discussions there, but allow them to comment there, and to post new discussions in other categories? Thanks in advance.

    I think the category roles extension might do what you want.

    I don't know if it's the solution since we're talking Wordpress posting (rather than Vanilla), but you should take a look at the Category Roles extension.

    Awesome thanks....I added it but am unsure how to do the settings. When I click categories there's no option, nor are there options I can check in the standard roles.
