Automatic Image Resizing/Zooming?

As in many forums there is a problem when users embed very wide images into their posts. Other web forums will automatically resize these images to thumbnails, but will allow you to view the full size when clicking on the images. Is there a way to get this to automatically happen in Vanilla when image are larger than X width/height?
