Category listing above front page discussion listing?

I've seen some vanilla sites have their category listing directly above the all discussion listing on the front (discussions) page. Any idea how I can go about that?

That adds them to the panel, I want it directly above the listing. Unless there's an easy way to do that with that extension?

yeah nah it's not made into an addon at all yet.. discussion overview is probably one I'll have to turn to if this doesn't happen or simply using nuggets to try hack it in.

Can you point us to a site that has this? Is it a horizontal menu of Categories?

I tried looking for it but I couldn't find it. But basically it's the exact look of the category list on the categories page above the all discussion list on the Discussions page.

Its how bbpress is set up, correct? http://bbpress.org/forums/, but in reverse?

Yes exactly like that (but like you said reversed).
