How to Turn off Categories (Only use one category?)

Is there a way to remove the Categories drop down menu when posting, and the link in the menu bar for Categories? I'd like to simplify my board and basically just use 1 category, so there's no need for these options to be there thanks

    Try un-ticking 'allow discussions to be categorized' in the application settings.
