I am trying to transfer a forum to Vanilla and had a question...
I have a forum that has about 10 discussions. Users cannot create new discussions, just add comments to the existing ones. Our current forum (hosted at Worldcrossing), has the ability to read new comments in a discussion, then click on a "Read New Messages" link at the bottom and go to the next discussion with new comments....continuing until there are no new comments in any of the discussions. Would there be any way to implement something like this in Vanilla?
Thanks

in the DB, there is a table that keeps record of the users viewing the different discussions. also in the discussions page, you can see the discussions that have comments that each user hasn't read, so the information exists!
you should reproduce how the DiscussionGrid (or maybe it's another, I haven't checked) calculates this information and then modify the theme in order to put the links, although you should think on how you'll organize the links in the discussion
in your case is better as you have a closed (and little) set of discussions so making the calculation won't grow too expensive.
