Update Website Points based on post/comment.

edited November 2008 in Vanilla 1.0 Help
My site currently makes use of a points system for different elements of user interaction. I am looking to extend this functionality to my forum so that when a user comments a discussion/creates a new discussion, they will receive a certain amount of points.

I am at a loss as to where to even start to properly create this addition/extension?

Any ideas?

I have stumbled across the following extensions, which are nice, and will probably make their way into my install of Vanilla, but they still lack the functionality I am looking for.

  • There is a post count already built-in to Vanilla and saved in the user table. A good starting point would be something that reads that. There is also a community moderation extension which ranks users by their participation: http://lussumo.com/addons/index.php?PostBackAction=AddOn&AddOnID=412
