Caching forums

Any work being done to add thread caching (writing discussions out to disk as HTML)? Just to stop the comment before it's made - Forums are NOT dynamic. They are static. The only time when they are "dynamic" is when someone ADDs a new post/comment. For effective caching - all that needs to be done is write the discussion out to disk as HTML and ONLY on new/updated comments, rewrite those pages.
