GoDaddy and Vanilla problem

I am having a problem getting Vanilla to install on my GoDaddy webspace. It has been mentioned that the problem could be solved by switching from a windows server to a linux server at GoDaddy. Does anyone here know how to do this? Can I do it myself or do I need to contact GoDaddy to get them to do it?
