"Check for updates now" doesn't check for updates now

I'm running Vanilla 1.14, and my update checker/manager no longer returns version information. It hangs up "checking for updates" for an indefinite amount of time. Any ideas why this may be? Thanks!

I upgraded to 1.1.5a and now update works. Must have not been backward compatible.
