Sendmail

edited June 2009 in Vanilla 1.0 Help
I noticed Vanilla uses Sendmail to send out the notification emails.

The problem is that itn gets some rubbish email address from somewhere that causes an error...

(reason: 550 : Sender address rejected: Domain not found)

And , of course I cannot find out why sendmail does this - any clues anyone or does vanilla have an email program plug-in that it can use rather than using sendmail?

  • If you enter an SMTP server in the Settings page, Vanilla will use the SMTP protocol rather than sendmail.

That error shouldn't be showing up though. Either your host is doing something weird with PHP's mail function, or you/your users have an invalid email address entered. Double-check the email addresses though before blaming your host.
  • Thanks S! - turned out to be a mispelt smtp name... dyslexia rules KO?
