need to sign in twice ... weird error

sometimes signing in seems to work fine other times i get this message: Firefox can't find the server at :. and the url looks like this: http://://www.myforum.com/forum/ i don't understand where it's getting the extra :// from?? and then if i try again, it seems to work fine?? can someone point me in the correct direction?

    bump i think this might be a cookie issue, but i'm not really sure. i could really use some help!

    It is related to bug in the Vanilla 1.1.7+ installer. To fix it, simple set in conf/settings.php $Configuration['HTTP_METHOD'] to 'http' instead of 'http://'
