making /categories default homepage?

I just made a new forum on Vanilla and wanted to know how I can make /categories.php the default page users see when the go to the url (example.com instead of example.com/categories.php)

    Sorry - it's been a long time since I've worked with Vanilla 1. We're currently finishing Vanilla 2, and this type of thing is WAY easier.

    Hopefully someone will pop in here and help you out. A search might get you some good results, too.
