after installation of 1.1.8

hello, I've just finished installing vanilla 1.1.8 which seems to have mostly completed successfully. I've got a small issue of when i browse to the root folder of vanilla (I've called it /forum on my webserver), the page forward to 'forum/people.php?PageAction=SignOutNow&ReturnUrl=http%3A%2F%2F%3A%2F%2Fwww.***.co.uk%2Fforum%2F' which won't accept a user to log in. I need to manually browse to /forum/people.php to be able to log in. Can someone help?
