Can you make the whole forum private?

  I think there is a Setting "private" or something like this in the config.php
  Not sure what it does exactly, but sounds for me like making the forum really private.
  
  And then you also have to set the Registration mode for new users to "Invitation", in order to prevent unwanted signups.

  I have the same problem but I think that it can be solved using the users setting only: only people assigned to a group you create can read the posts.
