Stylish and simple WYSIWYG editor - NicEdit

edited August 2010 in Vanilla 2.0 - 2.8
Hi all!
I found this WYSIWYG editor when I was browsing for a simple text editor. It is called: NicEdit
It is easy to implement in any script so I hope someone of vanilla forumers can make simple plugin for vanilla forum.

Here are examples that impress me:
http://nicedit.com/demos.php?demo=2 - You can arrange editor knobs as you like, you can choose less or more buttons to show.

I hope many of vanilla users will be interested in having this one in their forums :)

  • That does look like a nice editor! I'd love for this to be made into a Vanilla plugin. So far, I have had no luck with the WYSIWYG javascript plugins that are listed. The jquery one doesn't seem to work on edit, and I can't get the TinyMce one to work at all.

This NicEdit looks much cleaner. Perhaps by using the existing javascript WYSIWYG editor plugins as a guide, it would be easy to make a plugin.
  • I've tried making a plugin with NicEdit but it has many of the same problems as jqysiwyg.

Please give the newest (and most promising so far) wysiwyg plugin CLEditor a try.

Make sure you apply the fix for Vanilla 2.0.3 mention on the Addon page and this one to get the best functionality.

Use the CLEditor thread to make any comments
  • Has anyone gotten the NicEdit 'plugin' to work? I'm having trouble ;(

If anyone knows of another way to go about uploading images to the body of the post could you please let me know?

    Thanks,

    Ian
  • As an alternative, take a look at this version of tinymce: https://github.com/TiGR/TinyMCE
  • RaizeRaize vancouver ✭✭
Thats nice, would go great with Vanilla 2
  • I like that.

Add Pages to Vanilla with the Basic Pages app
