Vanilla Doesn't Produce Valid XHTML?

edited May 2012 in Vanilla 2.0 - 2.8

I used the W3C validation service on my own Vanilla forum, and also on this very forum. In each case, there were numerous errors flagged in the pages. How concerned should I be about this?

Here's an example of what I'm talking about:

http://validator.w3.org/check?uri=http%3A%2F%2Fvanillaforums.org%2Fdiscussions&charset=%28detect+automatically%29&doctype=Inline&group=0&user-agent=W3C_Validator%2F1.3

none of the error are serious enough warrant worry.

xhtml is a dead end, one of the reason why html5 has been a long time coming. w3c wasted over a decade with its obsession with all things xml. Thing that were possible then are only just being realised now.

    grep is your friend.

  • I don't have any fondness for xhtml either, but it's apparently what Vanilla is built to use.

Would there be a fairly easy way to change Vanilla from xhtml to html5, or do some of the key features of Vanilla depend on xhtml?
