Need help setting up unified login process

I want to set up a unified login process between VanillaForums, Wordpress, and MediaWiki so when users log into my site, they will be logged in to all of them at once. I can write the code, but I need to know how the login process works on VanillaForums. Maybe I could intercept the login process and use my own code. Do I just write a plugin. I still need to know what to access in the code.

    Let me be more specific: I need to know how to write my own plugin to access the login process. A link to documentation would be just fine. (I will search for it myself, though.)
