404 error because of subdomain and installation in /folder/ ?

hi. installed vanilla without problem. downloaded, extracted and activated the SSLControllers-Plugin. Now i'm getting a 404Error for every https://-page i try to visit. http:// works tho, only dashboard gets and redirect to https and therefore returns 404. i'm not even sure where to start tracking down the problem, but i think it might be misconfigured .htaccess or any parameters i need because the forum is installed on subdomain AND in a subfolder.
