unable to use wordpress plugin

I have installed Vanilla Wordpress plugin release 1.1.11 on a WordPress release 3.3.2 using the LeanBiz theme from Elegant Themes.
In the plugin, check of forum URL http://forum.lynxonline.com/community is OK.
But when I go to the page which should embed the forum, the page is displayed but I can see nothing from the forum:
http://www.lynxonline.com/discussions
Any help appreciated.

    Complementary information: I used the javascript console of chrome and it shows the following error:
    "Uncaught TypeError: Cannot call method 'appendChild' of null" in file "embed.js" at line 221.
    I use the console of Firefox:
    [16:48:13,975] document.getElementById("vanilla-comments") is null @ http://forum.lynxonline.com/community/js/embed.js:221

    i swapped to Simple Press. It was a bit more complex to understand how it works, because it has more functionalities than Vanilla, but from a technical viewpoint I had no problems at all and their support is very good (although you pay for it, but it's cheapper than waisting hours and hours).
