Add Pages to Vanilla with the Basic Pages app
it's theme dependent, not tied to a core version. you need to change themes or modify the one you have.

The IndexPhotos plugin adds avatars to the discussions page. Open the
class.indexphotos.plugin.phpfile from the plugin and replace 2.0.18b4 with 2.0.18.4 in the line near the top of the file that says'RequiredApplications' => array('Vanilla' => '2.0.18b4'),, and let us know if it works.Add Pages to Vanilla with the Basic Pages app
i'm figuring to get a lot of airplay out of it. i wouldn't have spent the hour writing, editing and formatting the page if i wasn't going to direct people there.
specific dev questions like what does this do or how do i use this function etc will get a straight forward answer. things like "how do i add pictures to the discussions page" is too generic and complicated to answer in a post. IMHO
However if that plugin works, then use it!

I used the core hack on an install before I knew of IndexPhotos and now I don't remember where the hack was made to reverse it

if you don't have the plugin enabled and you still have indexphotos. you most likely changed something in your theme default.master.php or .tpl or in /applications/vanilla/views/discussions folder
or in your themehooks file.
I may not provide the completed solution you might desire, but I do try to provide honest suggestions to help you solve your issue.

update: No not there either, I have scoured all possible files. This is an example of why it is not a good idea to do this....

I found It !! I compared an install without the hack and found it !! lmao, now to fix what it caused by removing it
