    Fetal Error..!!

this is a political hot topic :)

    it dosent work..

your going to have to be more descriptive about error, if you want a solution.

you can certainly post in your native language as well as english, since you are a non-native english speaker.

I may not provide the completed solution you might desire, but I do try to provide honest suggestions to help you solve your issue.

The URL you gave led to the vanilla error page, ergo I don't exactly know what "sidebar" you are referring to. As for custom pages the one that @shadowdare gave works perfectly fine for me, as does this one http://vanillaforums.org/addon/custompages-plugin

    Let's keep the ball rolling!

Add Pages to Vanilla with the Basic Pages app

  • Wow the site looks nice, I like the style a lot!

I can't help much with the error, but let's get to the original problem. Could you give us a pic to show either what you want it to look like (WITH sidebar) or what it looks like now and where the sidebar should go?

@Vanillaplus, what version number of Vanilla are you using? Also, a copy and paste of the fatal error would have been okay too.

    Info on the Fatal Error

The fatal error shown in the screenshot is "the specified data type (longtext) is not accepted for the MySQL database" and is an exception thrown by Vanilla.

Looks like the longtext data type isn't defined as a valid column data type in the _DefineColumn method in the /library/database/class.mysqlstructure.php file in Vanilla 2.0.18.8. I wasn't aware of this until now.

In Vanilla 2.0.18.8, these data types are defined as valid:

'tinyint', 'smallint', 'mediumint', 'int', 'bigint', 'char', 'varchar', 'varbinary', 'date', 'datetime', 'mediumtext', 'text', 'decimal', 'float', 'double', 'enum', 'timestamp'

In Vanilla 2.1b2, more data types have been defined as valid, including longtext:

'tinyint', 'smallint', 'mediumint', 'int', 'bigint', 'char', 'varchar', 'varbinary', 'date', 'datetime', 'mediumtext', 'longtext', 'text', 'decimal', 'numeric', 'float', 'double', 'enum', 'timestamp', 'tinyblob', 'blob', 'mediumblob', 'longblob'

    After All

Currently, Basic Pages is version 1.8.3, which includes the change of one column's data type to longtext.

For now, you can use Basic Pages 1.8.2 if you're using Vanilla 2.0.18.8. Please let us know if it works for you. http://vanillaforums.org/addon/basicpages-application-1.8.2

Add Pages to Vanilla with the Basic Pages app

  • @Vanillaplus, are you able to add custom pages now?

Add Pages to Vanilla with the Basic Pages app

  • @Shadowdare Not yet. But I can create them now. Thanks for all who helped me.
