..And it's sat at my mates house (he picked it up for me) 15 miles away and my bastard car's in the garage

    Actually the bus from here to leeds is pretty nice. But it still involves walking, paying, walking some more, walking some more, and then walking some more. I'd rather bike it but its too late and it'd be a hassle to bring a laptop back on a bike...

    There is nothing better than waking up to a FedEx delivery of a brand new laptop. When I got my most recent laptop (a couple of months ago), it was one of the best days I can remember. I sat in my pyjamas all day long playing with it. (the laptop, pervs).

    TNT fucking blows, when I got the Wacom Intuos3 A4 (that I have already gratuitosly told you about) I paid extra for TNT to bring it to my house, so they came by at 12am (when around 80% of all finnish workers are at work) and later when I called them, they said that they could try to bring it to me monday around 8am to 4pm (again exactly the time 80% of finnish workers being at work) so I had to get it myself, and the best part was that I had to wait it for a week, the same time it would have taken for the regular post to get it and they would actually had delivered it to the nearest postal office (under a kilometer away from my house), instead of some far away TNT terminal (neat 15 kilometers from where I live).

    Hah. I know that feeling kosmo. I drove about 30 miles to pick up my latest mobile phone last year. Got the thing and the fucker broke within about 2 days. Wasnt impressed :(
    And yeah mark. Annoying thing is i'll need to charge it for a million hours (correct me if i'm wrong) when i first get it to burn the battery in or whatnot? I know i could not do it but while it's a major PITA to begin with it's well worth it in the long run imo. (even though i'll probably be buying a/some new batteries for it.)

    My laptop just sits on the desk in front of one of my monitors always on. Its not mistreated, but it makes for a wonderful little obedient server :) I don't have enough to do with it because it's slow. So far it's maximum uptime has been a year and I've only popped the lid a handful of times.

    heh lech. i had an old p2 laptop which i kept running under my desk running windows 98. Lasted over 8 weeks which i was pretty impressed with for the POS which is '98. I used it a couple of times a week too..

    I wouldn't dare abuse a laptop like that :) It's running gentoo, and I have another drive I can slap into it with win2k loaded on the side for if I need it. But yeah, it's a crufty little p2 366 which runs fairly decent for my means.

    While we are bragging--I used as my sole computer a P1 233 laptop (with super duper MMX technology) up until one year ago today.

    Poor little thing went through hell--and lasted an amazing 5 years--two power bricks, rewired USB port (I cut a USB extension cable and soldered it to the motherboard, where the broken jack used to be). It still sits in the closet because I can't bear to throw out my first laptop.

    I am planning on turning it into a networked picture frame or something. Its 3.4 GB disk drive is in an external enclosure that I still use from time to time.

    You guys are way out of your league, I still have my very first computer, a Commodore 64 hooked to my TV. And I get so much tail it's not even funny anymore :P

    SO i got my car back from the garage and picked my laptop up today. It's very nice.
    Except the girl forgot to put the battery in when i told her to put it on charge so it isnt charged whatsoever :(
    It's nice though.
