Where do I find my server’s name?

High!

Sorry, but I’m not able to install the yet uploaded version of Vanilla. Where do I find my server’s name?

TIA

If somebody wants to chime in (I'll be on tour the next days and therefore not a big help anymore):

    1. Provider is an italien provider cheweb.it
    2. Their plans all include cPanel
    3. Asmus has already a running WP on the server, but I guess it has been a One-Click-Installation

    I told him to:

    1. Get the credentials for his cPanel account anyhow
    2. Log into cPanel and start phpMyAdmin
    3. Create a database for Vanilla
    4. Eventually - if everything else fails - use the same db as the WP db for Vanilla, since the credentials can be seen in wp-config.php

  • Sorry, it was late last night … I am quite new to all these internet technologies. I’ve been and I am a typesetter, a typomaniac without any compromises. I often think that what is no problem in print, is an awful job in the web. If we could work in web as like in InDesign, things would be better.

My problem: I have downloaded the latest Vanilla package and did decompress and upload it to my server. But then I was asked for the name of my server, and I didn’t find the correct answer. I simply don’t know what I have to type in here.

  • Aehm – could somebody help me with the installation of that empty database on the server? I don’t really understand the tutorial in that point although I’ve read every single line of it.

I’ve installed Sequel Pro now. Is it helpful for that purpose it help in this case?

    TIA

    @Asmus

Can you get to a utility called phpMyAdmin (usually available via cPanel)?

Sorry for switching language, but it might be faster...

  • Könnte wohl bitte jemand anders kurz aushelfen? Darf auch eine Kleinigkeit kosten, wenn’s heute, wir haben jetzt ja schon 21 Minutes to save the world … – äh, was rede ich denn – 21 Minuten nach Mitternacht …

    Geisterstunde …

– äh, was rede ich denn – installiert?Mit klickibunti bitteschön?

  • For those of you who don’t read the wonderful German Language, here is a short Description of the To-Do-List:

    1. Create an empty Database on my Webspace ( CheWeb in Italy )
    2. Done
