I understand the need to call home, but to make it so that I can not even change the theme because this fucking thing highjacks my dahsboard and points to a domain that is no longer registered. This needs to be pulled and the author banned. This is bullshit.
Why does this theme contain a Library/Vendors/SmartyPlugins ?
Why does it override the dashboard view ? The dashboard has changed and will be changing more drastically in the next version of vanilla, rendering this dashboard view obsolete and potentially ruining the installation.
To fix this theme , you need to remove all of the redundant useless and potentially damaging stuff.

Indeed any theme that causes this problem needs to be removed. Specially if the author has abandoned it and is no longer coming here to offer support.
