Single Discussion URL to start with plural discussions

Discussion Home page: xyz/discussions
Single discussion page: xyz/discussion/10/computer-items
Can I have have both to start with plural discussions as in /discussions

Welcome to the community.
You can do it via a custom definition in a custom locale file.

if you mean the url > Single discussion page: xyz/discussion/10/computer-items
becoming this xyz/discussions/10/computer-items
would be dubious in two respects
not be a wording change via locales but a controller link change (and not easily accomplished)
of questionable value.
if you want a route change you could do something like this.... (meaning goes to the target vs what you see)
