How to edit "location", "gender", "title" etc?

Hi,
I've installed a fresh Opensource Vanilla 2.5.1 installation. I did NOT modify anything, everything is at its defaults. The problem is, that I am unable as a user to modify the location, title or gender field. I tried other themes with the same result. It's not possible to modify this in the Dashboard as well.

There are some special fields in the profile. Enable the plugin Profile Extender and create a field called "Location" in order to allow users to edit it. The field must be called "Location" even if you prefer to use a field in your own language. You have to use a translation to show the correct wording
