Upgraded From 2.8-3.3, But It Still Says It's On Version 2.8
Hey guys,
I recently upgraded my vanilla forum from version 2.8 to version 3.3, but for some reason, it still shows that i'm on version 2.8. This version number is posted at the bottom of my dashboard, "Vanilla Powered" to the left, and "Version 2.8" to the right.
Upgrade process went smoothly, I ran /utility/update, it said it was successful, and the forum seems to be functioning properly, but I just don't know how to verify if i'm actually on version 3.3 or not.
Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

Thanks for the quick response, Kaspar.
/utility/structure didn't do anything.
As for the other suggestion, i'm currently on 2.8 flat. Not 2.83, or 2.84. Just wondering if you think that I should upgrade to 2.83, and then to 2.84, and then to 3.1, and then to 3.3, or if there's another way to do this.
If not, it's fine, and i'll proceed, but if I decide to go this route, I'm just wondering if 2.83, and 2.84, are still considered "2.8" versions, and I should follow the "2.8" instructions for upgrading? Thanks!
Do not do incremental upgrades, you can go to the most recent version directly.

Direct upgrade is/should be the way indeed.
I had no specific plan in mind, I just referred to a similar case to give an idea of optional approach.
Also, I do not know if it showing 2.8 is an issue.
But in my mind it means something was not updated.
And if one file wasn't then maybe other wasn't aswell.
Well, this is rather embarrassing. It was a late night, and I guess I probably should have been sleeping, but Instead, I was busy making a fool of myself.
Basically, I uploaded the vanilla-core3.3 zip to my file manager, and extracted it, but I didn't realize that there was a subfolder inside, called "package". So in my mind, I was overwriting every single file, but in reality, I just extracted the files to it's own separate folder. In other words, I was doing nothing in regards to the updating process.
From my memory, I could swear that in the past, this subfolder didn't exist, and the files were at the root of the archive, but I could be wrong. My fault for not checking beforehand.
Anyway, onto the next issue.
So, after realizing my error, I simply created a new zip, with the files at the root, and uploaded it to my file manager. I deleted all of the necessary files for the upgrade, and proceeded to "utility/update", and "utility/structure". Sadly I keep receiving the "something went wrong" error. I tried this all last night, so maybe now that i'm fresh, i'll figure out what i've done wrong, but still unsure.
I tried one time, where I deleted the .htaccess file in cache, and one time without deleting, still no luck. There's also "/library/Vanilla/Formatting/Embeds/linkEmbed.twig", I don't have that, but I have "linkEmbed.php", so I wasn't sure if it's the same thing or not, but I deleted it one time, and one time I didn't. Both didn't work.
Any ideas as to what I could be doing wrong?
Thanks, i'm trying to avoid that, but now i'm running into another issue. I detailed it in my last post.
Any idea what I could possibly be doing wrong? I've been following the instructions word-for-word.
You followed "2.8 or earlier" steps ?

Something went wrong:

Yup, i've followed that perfectly (or at least I think so)
So I ran the debug, and received this, and then a bunch of backtrace stuff.
Fatal Error in LocalesApiController.{closure}();

Thanks for the help Kaspar, really appreciate it, you're the best.
I read that, and had no idea what it meant, but decided to search those words to find the thread that it was taken from. In that thread, it led me to this post by madhurasri:
This post completely resolved my issue. I hope that commenting that line doesn't destroy anything else, but it's working so far. Thanks again for the help!
