Smart embed doesn't seem to work on pinterest posts

I can successfully embed youtube videos, soundcloud clips, instagram posts, vimeos, imgur images and gifs but cannot say the same for facebook posts, google map links and pinterest posts.
The latter is supposed to be supported officially hence I need to ask, has anybody else seen this problem and fixed it?
For the sake of testing, I'll try embedding one such post right here & now...
Lo & behold that it works, so what config/magic trick is it needed for pinterest posts?

As a side note I'll add what I saw when searching for information about my pinterest problem on this very same forum:
The very long time that it took to load page 2 might give away that something is not quite right with the search function, apart from the +400 search results supposedly missing, of course.
There have been a couple of questions about similar.
For some it worked using a mobile link.
Issue was solved when updating.

I knew about the mobile link workaround on facebook posts but it has never worked out for me, same goes for the pinterest posts.
I didn't know about the hashtag at the end of the URL and just tried it but no luck. I'll just wait out until a future release fixes this for me.
