Topic order

edited April 2009 in Vanilla 1.0 Help
Is there any way to change the order of discussion topics? It seems to me that the last created topic appears first, which is contrary to my needs.

Comments

  • They are in the order in which the last comment was made. Most recent first.

If you're talking about Discussion categories, just click and drag them in the "Category" configuration section.
  • No, I am not talking about categories or comments. I created a new forum with three topics under the General category. After creating them I realized they appear backwards, i.e. the last created topic appears first in the display. Are you saying I should create categories rather than multiple topics under a single category?
  • Oh, so topics = discussions.

Discussions are listed in the order that the last comment was made (last being latest, or most recent). The latest discussion is always at the top of the list. This follows the traditional forum standard.

Vanilla allows you to "Sink" discussions which interrupts this behavior. A sunken discussion will not be moved to the top when a new comment is made.
  • Yes, I guess vanilla calls them discussions. So as the administrator of a new forum I merely wanted to add three discussions, and having done so, found the order not to my liking. This is before any comments were made. I just wanted to be able to change the order in which they appeared on the page. Here is the start of my forum. http://www.luckie.me/Forum/
  • Bluckie, a combo of http://lussumo.com/addons/index.php?PostBackAction=AddOn&AddOnID=189 and http://lussumo.com/addons/index.php?PostBackAction=AddOn&AddOnID=197 might do the trick.
  • TomTester,Thanks I'll give it a go.
