Replacing forum splash page with separate page

Hi there, I'm trying to find a way to override the *entire* index page of the forum. I don't want to have to hack the ENTIRE index.php page - it would be much better if I can use an extension to override it. The reason is because we plan to provide a lot more details on the index page - so it's rather important that I'm able to do it. Suggestions on the best course of action would be appreciated. Dave

    Someone's help or pointers would be really appreciated - I'm in a bind here and it will make or break if I use Vanilla. We really need the index page changed :-/
