How can I suspend posting across the entire forum?

I would like to lock down the board, leaving it in "read only" mode. I've searched the docs and forum but cannot find anything so far. I hope I'm just overlooking something obvious. Please tell me such a basic capability is possible.

    Go to Settings -> Roles & Permissions. Remove permissions "Add comments" and "Start discussions" for any roles you want (member, etc.). Read only.
