@R_J Thanks for your input. Is there somewhere I need to include the /conf/bootstrap.after.php ? Or will Vanilla automatically load it? Figured it out, yes it's auto loaded :) .

Its running Mysql server version: 5.7.29-0ubuntu0.18.04.1. I haven't attempted to update the Mysql version.

Yey, upgrade worked perfectly. Thanks for posting the update. Comment: Seriously, there is room for improvement on the upgrade method in Vanilla Forums. Downloading a zip and extracting it to overwrite files is so 2004-PHPBB-ish.

Are there any major new user facing features for 2.3 planned? How about 2.4? Greets from a fan

Vanilla is a very good forum engine, your users would enjoy it. Other than that I'd look into: * Discourse * NodeBB

Try to set debug = true in conf/config.php I also get lots of 500 server errors after upgrading.

Pocket plugin is awesome and all. But no, pockets does _NOT _ work for JS snippets. I've asked the same question before, and people has been recommending me pockets. It just doesn't work for adding code. When pasting the code into a pocket and saving, it does not get stored properly ie. the code is not intact after saving…

I believe it's not called "editor", but rather "Advanced Editor" Copied from my 2.2 plugins section: "Advanced Editor Enables advanced editing of posts in several formats, including WYSIWYG, simple HTML, Markdown, and BBCode. DisableSettings Version 1.7.2|Requires: Vanilla Version >=2.2|By Dane MacMillan"

@R_J : Okey I will do that then. Thanks for your input! Any idea about these warnings? AssetModel::CssPath() with direct paths is deprecated. in /home/lechuc5/public_html/library/core/functions.general.php line 911 Notice AssetModel::CssPath() with direct paths is deprecated. in…

"Upgrade was a success" yeSSSSSSS. Thank you so much for your work!

Hi again pasting a javascript snippet above the header in default.master.tpl does not work and crashes the forum pasting a javascript snippet in Pockets does not work (I was on 2.0 then, and 2.1, new webhost) Maybe someone could suggest another way I can add an analytics javascript snippet in a header?

For what it's worth? It's worth a whole lot! Everything you guys (upstream devs and addon devs) do have tremendous value to us out here. We haven't lost the spirit nor the energy here. I hope you'all know that! There could definitely be a more cohesive way to "do" the addons and developer community aspects here. Dunno,…

Great work on the security update, it looked like you fixed a few pressing things! [SOLVED] I tried running the installer wizard that appears on the screen in the screenshot above. Really bad idea. It nuked the entire GDN_discussions table! "BAM! You’ve got a sweet forum" post being placed there. Luckily I had ample…

I did DB Structure Upgrade, and the other recalculation in that plugin. It didn't fix it. :( Thanks for the suggestion tho. I will look in the database and see if I can find a toggle for this installer to disappear. If not I have to roll back tomorrow I guess.

@wnu606 : From 2.1.11 -> 2.1.12p3 I did as the update instructions said, unpacked the files into my main forum folder. Ran the "updater script" as I call it is the one you see in my second screenshot here. Located at $forumurl/index.php?p=/utility/updater Since it is acting like this with my patched files on 2.1.12p3 files…

I just had a failed upgrade. The updater script fails, have tried it 10 times. All plugins are disabled and debugging = TRUE in the conf file. Ini files cleared from cache. Now when I am trying to comment on any thread in the forum I'm getting a Vanilla Installer left-sidebar popup, and the forum does not allow the comment…

For what it's worth, I haven't found any suitable replacement for Vanilla. It's the best of breed as it is in my case. In the future I might start more hacker news style communities with the hacker news clone "Telescope". But not yet! Vanilla offers the sleekest forum experience I've seen, and that's what I'm sticking with.

I found the source, although the Firefox Dev Console didn't help me, it gave some arcane errors "TypeError: $(...).iCheck is not a function 56756:720:0 Use of Mutation Events is deprecated. Use MutationObserver instead. jquery.js:3:0 Use of getPreventDefault() is deprecated. Use defaultPrevented instead." When I disabled…

I just went ahead and bought it. Applied it to my forum, and it works. Now it looks amazing. I'm really happy! Thanks a lot.
