Recent wave of notification spam and what I did
Note: I realize this isn't a once-size-fits-all solution, but I wanted to throw this out there for anyone else who is having the same problem. Recently (as of late August, according to the activity log on my forum) there has been a rash of bots signing up on my forum and setting an activity message in what I can only think… -
[github #1436] Suggestion to make links consistent when using buttonbar.
if you paste a link http://www.google.com - it is an external link and vanilla treats it as such puts the attribute target=""blank" however if you use the buttonbar or ctrl-L google - the result is not given the attribute target=""blank" this can lead to problems if the forum is embedded. If the site you linked has… -
Personal pronouns, plurals, you vs. username and possible other issues with localization
Hi all! There seems to be some issues with personal pronouns etc. that are unfortunately almost unsolvable with Finnish translation atm. Was wondering if any other languages have these same issues? For example 'User xx mentioned user yy in a topic' translates just fine, but 'You mentioned user yy in a topic' results bad… -
Re: I have an idea but I don't know how to implement it
Here's a couple of quick ideas for hacking something together without coming up with a new plugin: Role Title addon You could probably hack something together using the Role Title addon, if you're not using it for anything else. Basically you could just have a Verified role (with a unicode checkmark ✓ and everything if you… -
Re: VanillaHtmlFormatter: how to customize, add attributes and class
SOLUTION! @charrondev here is an idea, after studying htmlawed a bit it seems it is quite a little bit achievable rocket science after all. It turns out I might not need allowed_attributes, because deny_attributes, actually doubles as both allow and deny according to the official documentation. And vanillaHtmlFormatter… -
Re: Vanilla 2021.012 is now available
Not sure, but I think you have the power to do so. But I wouldn't encourage that. I just downloaded 2021.021 and found out it comes without a vendor folder, which makes it useless to most people using a hosted plan where they cannot run composer install. From my opinion at least three tests should be made before uploading… -
Re: How to edit css style on Vanilla 4 and how to translate language.
I could be wrong, but I think Foundation works quite different than the older themes. I don't think you should edit the core CSS files, it would be all over the place as it seems to be several files and confusing to apply again when updating. It would be a lot better to use the CSSEdit plugin or add a custom.css to… -
Re: Brainstorming on the sense of a OS powered community forum
I don't really intented to blame someone. That's just how I see the current situation. Frustration is real, because we are in a situation that makes no sense. All I said is still true and can contribute to improve the current status quo. That's just plain frustration. A potentially great piece of software, for sure, but… -

Re: Vanilla Awards for best Community developed plugin, theme and application.
Really hard question. Best premium theme by now: Flat Responsive Best application ever: YAGA will keep that position for a very, very long time, I think. Best plugin ever: Eventi though it would need some work. Best theme ever: I change my mind each day on that... Best application 2014: Articles Best plugin 2014: Birthday…
