Vanilla 0.9.3 is currently only available by SVN (Subversion). If you don't have any idea how to install and set up subversion, I will send you a zip of the site from my local copy.
Have you gotten a copy of vanilla 0.9.3 yet? I haven't put the label tags in yet, no. But if you wanted to take a look at the templates and either do it yourself or tell me where, I'd be glad to.
My ToDo list is: 1. Finish Documentation 2. Trim Vanilla down a bit more 3. Perform a few upgrades to the core 4. Fix "Major" bugs Right now I'm still on #1.
The last thing I read on YH was some moron saying that Vanilla was a complete rip-off of yayhooray, and that he couldn't tell the difference between the two. I laughed out loud and closed my browser.

I'd be interested to see what you can come up with. If you need help doing something in vanilla, just post on here and ask how it can be done. I'm sure someone (if not me) will lend a hand.
What version of PHP are you using? What type of server are you on? (apache?) Can we have a login to test with on your version of vanilla? You can whisper your username/pass on there to me if you want.
Actually, signing in, reading, and posting to discussions works on mobile devices (or at least it did on vanilla 0.9.0). I haven't tested it in a while, but I specifically spent a day or so tuning up a mobile-friendly css file.
