No tag for vanilla 2.6
Hello, Recently moved a small community to vanilla 2.6, brand new to the project. However, I'm a seasoned developer. I'd very much like to make fairly extensive modifications to Vanilla. I think the best way for me to make and track the changes would be simply to fork the repo myself, keep my changes there, and use the… -
Re: External links entered without https are changed to unsafe
Yes it is very unpleasant and unexpected indeed. I suggest that if the reasons for this implementation exist and bars the idea of bug, then at least we need a way to easily configure the accepted protocols. I often don't know the protocol of the site's address I am typing from memory. I expect this behaviour to default to… -
Re: Error 500 on link embeds.
I ran through those without success. So after everything that had happened I went an extreme route, created an entirely new virtual server, uploaded vanilla to it, went to run the installer and guess what? curl wasn't installed. When he rebuilt the site he didn't reinstall the curl extension and that's why everything else… -
Re: New reCAPTCHA
This is an interesting take on it. I also visited the wordpress.org site and tried to register in both a private and a standard browser window. I never passed the "simple" captcha and was forced to pass the "traditional" captcha. Perhaps the strictness is variable/configurable? It seems to depend on some cookies existing… -
Embedding an IFrame into my site
I'm running Vanilla Forums 3.3 on a brand new site to support a class that I'll be teaching this semester here: I've actually been doing this in other classes for some time and have found it to be a great experience. I'd love to be able to include dynamic content in an IFrame using syntax like so: <iframe… -
Re: How to quickly grab the latest localizations
<?php// Path to your Vanilla install.$vanilla_path = '/www/vanilla/';// Locale codes to download - should match Vanilla's standards, for example "fr" and "pt_BR".$locale_codes = ['bg', 'de', 'es', 'fr', 'id', 'it', 'ja', 'nl', 'pl', 'pt_BR', 'ru', 'vi', 'zh', 'zh_TW'];foreach ($locale_codes as $locale_code) {… -
Re: Mobile customizing
I don't have a gallaxy to test on I use the user agent browser extension , but it does not show. It does not happen on iPhone. It can also be possible that you may need to adjust other elements inside the #Body with percentages. check that all the widths are 100% . Clear property is ok as far as I see… -
Re: YAGA Virtual Economy
I don't think you can use it like that out of the box, so you would have to write some plugin. The same applies for the question concerning the Karma plugin. The Karma plugin and the YAGA addon are both written very well and with extensibility in mind. Nevertheless you would have to learn how to write Vanilla plugins. But… -
Re: What motivates you to contribute?
I don't really remember why I chose Vanilla because I did so about 8 years ago. It was probably the combination of open source and extensibility that did it. My contributions are for things that I want fixed or added for my own sites. I can fix them myself of course, but then I'd have to deal with the fixes getting blown… -
Re: How to make a custom field non editable?
Well, you can't do that with this plugin. Are you a developer? You can copy the plugin and extend it. This part of the plugins source code gives a hint that someone might have planned something similar: /** * Whitelist of allowed field properties. */ public $FieldProperties = ['Name', 'Label', 'FormType', 'Required',…
