Cannot enable any plugins

After deleting all my Vanilla files, wiping the database, and uploading the latest build, I can't enable any plugins. It says it can't be enabled because it created a fatal error, but shows a blank line. This is for any plugin - even disabling GettingStarted and attempting to re-enable it produces the same result.

I've panicked because I have a client arriving in 2 hours, so I'm attempting to restore with an older copy. That'll teach me to do a clean install for a presentation.

No, I just successfully got it working with the latest code on a freshly-created subdomain. I'm gonna write this off unless I accidentally reproduce with the newest code.
