    God that's a terrible idea lol Especially a busy forum, all you would see is "help me I'm stuck in Russia" or "Click here for cheap Viagra" =)

    obviously its not for everyone, but im a firm believer that spam management is manageable very easily with the right approach. Even with your examples, keyword and email blacklists combined with some special moderation settings have proven to be highly effective when used properly "any post by a non member that contains more than X amounts of external links are held for moderation" .. stuff like that. The core application already has recaptcha integration.

    Besides, large sites using vanilla forums... what spam management options do we have currently?

    Yet another cool way, to promote your website via spamming. Posting your website link on Vanilla discussion will bring hits to your website but People may not like to get registered there. Happy spamming!

    Spam and nothing. Submit your website to search engines not VanillaForums.

    lol Well my most popular one is about 6000 members and growing 50-100 a day so I changed the rules so that you MUST use your twitter user name to apply(So I can verify them) and that works out pretty well.

    I do not believe it to be Spam, it is a debate and discussion group.
    I like the topics they can produce heated debates and I plan to steal (Use) some of the topics. With that said not bad I found the look of your site a little boring but attractive, and the topics stimulating.

    On my front page I included this.

    You're invited to post anything that concerns you. You're welcome to initiate any topic your passionate about and start a heated debate to make your point. However, since we are all adults and children may read this post, I ask each to restrict any profanity.

    Name-calling, such as Knucklehead, Bozo, and are you inept, or other similar conjectures are welcome if necessary, be creative but respectful and we can have a lot of fun.

    You will be welcome to plug your site and or specials with link, or support and share with each other in your business affairs, on any problems that may arise from owning a business and how you resolved them. Ask questions, give answers, expression opinions, pretty much whatever you would like.

    This site is only open to my customers therefore I did not include a link because that I would consider Spam, since I advertise for them and we are all in the business in selling products or a service.

    Anyhow, all in all your site out of five stars I give 3 and a half. Compared to mine 2. LOL
