Garden vs Vanilla

I'm confused about what is Garden and what is Vanilla, there is talk about a framework called "Garden" yet all it seems to be is "Vanilla".

What is the framework? Was it dropped? Does the framework only apply to Vanilla?

    Vanilla Forum is built on a framework to handle users, profiles, roles, activity, plugins, themes, and the control panel.

    The framework was originally branded as "Garden". They started to remove references to Garden and just call it "dashboard" to simplify branding, but decided it would cause too many problems in the code. The code repo on GitHub is still named "Garden" as a result.

    Garden is developed alongside Vanilla by the same people.
