Confirmation via email

I'd really like to have users confirm their registration via email. I'm gonna have a go at using vanilla for a support for I am starting (for Mageia Linux)

I see there is a "confirm emails" role already created, how do I enable email confirmation?

edit: i tried dragging it over other entries, but it doesn't seem to help.
