Only when used in some expressive context do I think swearing is acceptable. In cases of suprise or disappointment, it's quite alright. When it's aimed at causing emotional harm, or as a threat, then it can be frowned upon. Quite frankly tho, I just don't give a damn.
I would only use it so that I can read the forums at school. I don't mind if certain words aren't filtered, or people swear in other ways as long as I can view it without the filter picking it up. Swearing doesn't bother me in the slightest (when used in a casual sense, and not used in an abusive and threatening way).
Swearing is the linguistic crutch of the inarticulate motherfucker.
3stripe: Was it the government that had a filter that stopped Scunthorpe being allowed in their e-mails?

"It gained some internet notoriety in 1996 when AOL's obscenity filter (among others) refused to accept the name of the town, due to its inclusion of a character string which the filter rejected as obscene."
Not sure what the government was that blocked it in their emails but I'm guessing Singapore?
Hmm, is it just me or is there something odd happening with the block comment feature?
Try repeatedly blocking and unblocking mini's last post. Does anyone else get multiplying <strong> tags?
I've worked out where the bug was coming from anyway.

I removed the ins and the following text was no longer bold.
edit: Put them in again to test and it was fine....
I clearly fucked up somewhere.
"In my book, The Fable of Christ, I present proof Jesus did not exist as a historic figure. He must now refute this by showing proof of Christ's existence," Cascioli said.
ahh, I guess I didn't see what the problem was right away with that name and simply over-looked it all together. Gah, wake up early, read, come back and laugh at myself before sleep :P that's just silly.
