Tags used per category

Currently, i just see "Popular Tags" as a whole (across entire site / all categories).

If i click on a category, is there anyway I can see tags used within that category only?

-I don't see any functionality in current tagging addon
-possibilty to just add another column in the tag-discussion db table for category?

The tagging plugin is currently only for tags across the entire site, not per category. I'm likewise interested in this and may take it on as a project if no one else does soon.

The ability to mix taxonomies of different types and at different levels, would be ideal. The first step to that would be storing all the taxonomies in one place, perhaps in a similar way to Wordpress.
