what is difference between discussion and discussions in application vanilla views?

I have applications\vanilla\views\discussion and applications\vanilla\views\discussions and I am looking for customizing theme.

Can anyone please explain whats the difference between two and which one should I copy in custom theme and edit?

    Look at the URL while navigating forum.
    It defines view in Vanilla :-)

    Err, I did mean from a Vanilla perspective. The 'discussion' view shows a single discussion and calls 'helper_functions' to build the comments inside it. The 'discussions' view displays the main discussions list that is the home page of most Vanilla installs.
