Adding Custom Fields to Profiles

Is there a way to add custom fields to the profile boxes. I would like two or three other fields to edit when you click "edit my account". I see there was a user-fields plugin in for this in vanilla 1 but I only found the About Me plugin for vanilla 2 which I am not totally content with.

Anyone know of a way to do this or if the old plugin will be ported? Thanks in advance.

There's on called About Me (http://vanillaforums.org/addon/579-about-me) but it appears non-functional at the moment. I'm pinging the author to see if he can get it working again.

However it is more the user interface that I am not so in love with. I would rather a one click "edit my account" with results displayed in the same "About" box on a user profile instead of a separate tab with many default fields. I know I am being picky. Thanks for the bumps though to zodiac.
