How can I add pupils to a school forum without them misusing a new email address?

I have set up a school forum with parents and teachers and would like to add pupils in without them having to use the emails I generate for them for anything else. Is this possible?

You could use username to log in, and anyway the email addresses need not be valid ones.

On the Vanilla login screen, where it says "enter your email" what it really means is "enter your email OR user-id".

In Vanilla admin, create the account this way:

Username: User01
Password: super-secret-pasword
Email: User01@non-existant-domian.com

Give the student the username & password.

Do not give them the email.

If they forget their password, they'll need to call you (the admin) to get it reset, because they won't know the userid.

I'm not sure what you're asking. You want to enter dummy email addresses for them?

What I mean is, if i generate an email address for pupils so that they can login to the forum, they could use this for inappropriate activity on the web for which the school would then be responsible. Parents might not want them to have email adresses. I thought there might be another way they can login?
