Does anyone know how to fix this?

Re-install vanilla, because I have the feeling when you fix this error you will get many many more errors.
make sure the host you install vanilla on has the right Requirements.

I do. Do I need to change that in the config file?

After I changed the database server host settings, I'm getting this message:
Fatal Error in Gdn_Database.Query();
