Badges: Removing

I posted about badges last time, sure it was funny, but the point is: badges are bloat. Are badges now part of the core? Can they be turned off?

I mis-phrased what I meant. By "not in core" I meant it isn't being coded into the framework or Vanilla application directly. We may distribute it as a core plugin/app in the standard zip; I'm not sure. Getting a bit ahead of ourselves in any case.

it's not even released openly yet. i'm assuming it will be something you control behavior of or turn off if/when it's released

OK good.
FTFY, since you seem to have trouble comprehending that you're talking very negatively about someone else's long hours and hard work.

@Anonymoose You really think I'd put badges in core? C'mon. We won't even allow signatures or quotes in core. Reputation (which includes badges) is its own application, just like Conversations. Have a little faith.
The only reputation-related thing going directly in Vanilla (that I can think of at the moment, anyway) is Likes, which we believe is going to be fundamental to forum software moving forward.
I personally was searching the plugins page for this 'badges' thingy I saw here a couple of hours ago xD
I appreciate the effort you put into this and I hope it will be included in the standard installations zip.
i personally can't wait to see this released as an app so i can use it to run contests on my site.

Lincoln explained that badges won't be added in the core. So I guess that will be released a "Badge Plugin" that people like Anonymoose won't install, and other who like (like me) can download, install and use. I like this approch.

It will be awsome to have that plugin aviable, surely it will make vanilla a more popular software, a lot of people is looking for plugins like that.
