Only false positives

Akismet is the only antispam plugin which puts messages in the spam management list and this is good.
However, I used it for a couple of days and I only got false positives, including my own messages.
As I can see, correct me if I'm wrong, comments detected as spam are hidden from discussions unless I mark them as not spam. This negatively affects user experience and I don't want this. Is there another way to setup the plugin?
